TILE AND GROUT CLEANING

Tile Cleaning in Arlington, Fairfax and Springfield Vicinity

We at Smart Choice Cleaning love the way our customers react when they see the results of our tile and grout cleaning.

Smart Choice Cleaning uses a powerful extraction cleaning system specifically designed for tile and grout that incorporates heat, eco-friendly cleaning agents and a high-pressure rinse. This system will loosen deeply embedded soil from fine crevices and porous grout, removing the dirt that homeowners can’t remove with traditional cleaning methods.

Ceramic tile is one of the most abused and overlooked floor and wall surfaces in the home, simply because of the care involved in cleaning it. No one is anxious to relive terrible memories of scrubbing each tile and grout line for hours with a small brush, using those irritating, harsh and unsafe chemicals. Most of us would rather rearrange our sock drawer.

The good news is Smart Choice Cleaning can make short work of this task, using only earth-safe products that won’t harm your family, your pets or this world that we share.

OUR GUARANTEE: If you are not 100% satisfied with the cleaning we provided, call us within 48 hours and we will come back and re-clean at no charge!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS!

1. How often should I have my floor cleaned?

The fctory recommendation is to have your floor cleaned every 12-24 months for a routine floor maintenance.

2. Why should I have my tile and grout cleaned?

Tile and grout builds a large amount of dirt over time dulling its appearance and discoloring your grout. A thorough, professional tile & grout cleaning is the only way to remove the deep-down dirt.

3. Why should I have my grout lines sealed?

Grout is a porous material that absorbs soil and spills, just like carpet. Having a sealant applied will help create a protective barrier, giving you more time to clean up dirt and liquid spills before they soak into the grout.

4. Do I have to use a special floor cleaner?

We recommend that you use a neutral cleaner on your floor to preserve the life of the sealant. Rinsing after mopping will also help keep your floors looking their best. You must avoid bleach and other harsh chemical cleaners as these can wear away at the sealant and cause it to break down prematurely.

Tile and Grout Maintenance Tips!
  • First clean the grout with water to remove loose surface debris and allow to dry.
  • Don’t use bleach on colored grout, bleach will discolor the grout.
  • Use a nylon brush for cleaning, metal bristles will scratch the grout and the tile. Toothbrushes are OK but the bristles are generally too soft.
  • Don’t clean granite with household cleaners.
  • Use protective gloves, and safety glasses when working with any chemical-based grout cleaner.
  • Always test on a small area not easily visible to traffic.
  • Don’t mix cleaners together.
  • The factory recommendation is  to have your grout professionally cleaned every 12-24 months.

Maintenance:
General cleaners not specifically formulated for natural stone or tile are never recommended. These can breakdown the sealer, thereby removing its protective properties and making the stone and tile grout susceptible to stains. Worse yet, many cleaning products, including those that contain lemon, vinegar, bleach or ammonia can etch away the polish, discolor the surface, or even scratch your stone. Many cleaners have what is called a chelating agent in them. This agent breaks down and dissolves minerals in hard water. Since all stone is made up of minerals, these types of cleaners will dissolve and cause streaks over prolonged use.
